STARTING IN SEPTEMBER you will enjoy the outdoors, as you have never done before, with beautiful countryside and the best of upland and waterfowl hunting without the pressure of other hunters at South Dakota's #1 Waterfowl Camp.The birds are numerous, we are seeing more pheasants and sharptail grouse every year, and the atmosphere at the ranch is the best. Waterfowl hunting in the prairie pothole region of South Dakota is outstanding. The numbers of ducks and geese have increased annually. Harvesting more than 2,000 ducks and never hunting more than five hunters per hunt, 2009 was another banner year for Prairie Sky. Large numbers of ducks and geese were taken every day. Remember, we can guarantee you a waterfowl tag; either a South Dakota nonresident license or a Tribal Waterfowl Tag. You can design your own hunt. Waterfowl in the morning and pheasants or grouse in the afternoon or September offers great fishing (Small Mouth Bass or Walleye). Take the morning off and lounge on the deck of your own cabin with a good book and your dog alongside. This is your trip and it can be just the way you want it.

Hunting packages include lodging at Prairie Sky Ranch, daily maid service, all meals, field snacks, bird processing (including freezing & packaging), guides, dogs, decoys for waterfowl where necessary.

This prairie pothole region of South Dakota produces large numbers of ducks with more than 66,000 acres dedicated to waterfowl production. Wigeon, Teal, Gadwall, Canvasback, Pintail and Mallards nest in this region. Our experienced guides scout these potholes daily to find the best morning hunt possible. When the migration does start, waves of different species come from the north filling the potholes. Mallards will fill the fields feeding on corn and soybeans in the late season, and bluebills sit on the bigger water. The duck hunting could not be better and the pressure on these ducks is minimal. Big Sean Hammock Prairie Sky Guest and Game Ranch is proud to have “Big” Sean Hammock as our head Waterfowl and Turkey Guide and Operations Manager for all Waterfowl Hunts. Sean has been guiding hunts across the country for the last 11 years. From Ontario, Canada to southern Illinois, Sean has done it all and he knows what it takes to be successful in the field. When Sean heads out the front door at 5 am with his hunters, we know that he will return with ducks and geese in the truck and smiling faces on everyone! Sean is known across the country for his hunting and calling skills, and we feel very fortunate to have him with us in South Dakota.

Other than being a first class professional guide, Sean is a World Champion Goose Caller and has a strong reputation in the Waterfowl Industry. He began calling competitively when he was 18, not knowing where his future would lead him. His first win was in 2002 taking first place in Indiana State Goose Calling Championship. Once Big Sean started tasting victory and winning contests, his competitive side took over and losing was not an option! Sean is the #1 Ranked Goose Caller in the World and he has more championship titles and top five finishes than any other caller in contest history. Airport pickup and delivery can be arranged for $150 per trip ($300 roundtrip).
